Meanwhile, we just jettisoned our last natural gas appliance, retiring our stove in favor of an induction range. I'm surprised to find it superior in every way.

Everything that can be natural gas at this house is natural gas…..furnace, clothes drier, stove, oven, water heater…..and I pay monthly on an annualized cost basis. That payment never exceeds $59 per month.

How many of those guys have there been here recently? DJ. Pickens. Bell. Two of those 3 flamed out. The book has yet to be closed on Pickens. Watt is an exception. While I still think he was overpaid in his most recent contract, at least he had earned the right to be considered among the top paid guys. But even he compromised in his latest contract negotiation.

It meant more to JPJ to be (one of) the highest paid at his position than being a Steeler and that was his choice. He may have accomplished both, whether it was in '26 or '27, but he had to have that long term (highly guaranteed contract) right now.

Maybe JPJ goes on to have a great career, maybe he becomes another also ran. Either way the Steelers, particularly Rooney and Khan, thought that the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. It was his behavior and attitude that cost him a long term job in Pittsburgh. If he had just kept his head down and worked hard it would be a different story. That is what the three guys still on rookie contracts who ended up with extensions did. And everyone of those guys will finish out his next contract with the Steelers, even if injured.
